Lately I’ve been feeling sick, gross, uncomfortable and tired. And I know why. I’ve fallen off track with the gym and my healthy eating habits. My new job has really sidetracked things, but I am determined to get things going again.

Getting Back On Track_Water and Green Tea

I also need to DEFINITELY start consuming WAY MORE WATER. I have been drinking way less than normal and I am not okay with it. I think I need to get a bigger bottle/cup for at work so I’m not having to fill it up a million times a day. I’m thinking one of those ginormous Poland Spring ones and just reusing it day in and day out….thoughts?

Also, green tea - I need this in my life again. I have to bring it to work to sip on throughout the day - done and done. But what about when it starts to get really hot out? I don’t think I will be able to drink tea, anyone have any suggesstions on how to consume cold, yummy green tea at work?

Getting Back On Track_Food

So I’ve been all over the place lately with my food - not horrible but DEFINTIELY not as healthy as I would like either. So for me, the first step to getting on track again is having an epic shopping trip (even though in reality, I can’t really afford it) where I stock up on all my essentials. Here I come debt and yummy health foods!

I always try to write out my grocery lists by how the store is set up, that way I hit everything I need and don’t have to back track. I start in produce and end in dairy.

If you guys have any tips, suggesstions, or comments let’s hear em!

  • Bananas, apples, grapes, lemons
  • Salad, baby spinach, baby carrots, hummus
  • Onion, green pepper
  • Turkey, chicken, deli meats

  • Cape Cod Chips, Pretzels, Tostitios, Salsa
  • Paper Towels
  • Smart Ones, Frozen Broccolli, Frozen green beans
  • Oranje Juice, Skim Milk, Eggs, Yogurt, Greek yogurt, cheese
  • Whole grain bread, whole grain english muffins

It’s Been A While…but My Weight Finally Starts with a 1

My goodness it has been a while! Three weeks to be exact. Feels like three years. 

My life has been hectic - I started a new job that is much more time consuming than my last, but that’s okay because I really enjoy it. Also, March marks the beginning of the best time of year for me, my friends, and my family, so my life has been jam packed with activities and events and shindigs oh my!

I’m not complainging but I do feel a bit overwhelemed. I’m having a really hard time getting into a gym routine since starting my new job. I used to get home by 5:30, cook dinner, and me and my roomie could be out the door and heading to the gym by 6:30. We’d be home around 8:30 and have plenty of time to shower, hang out and then head to bed at a reasonable time.

Well now I don’t get home until 6 at the earliest, usually closer to 6:15, 6:30. My roommate doesn’t like to cook so it’s been up to me lately to still cook dinner which means we’re not even leaving for the gym until around 7:30. By then we’re not even getting back to our apartment until close to 9:30 and then I literally have to shower and go straight to bed. Not conducent to having a life.

It pisses me off that my roommate said “I don’t like to cook”. Really bitch? I used to have dinner ready for you all the time when you got home, shut up. If she cooked while she was waiting for me we could leave for the gym by 7 and be home by 9. A perfect middle of the road kind of option between what we used to do and what we’ve been doing lately. And then she has the audacity to say that if I cook after we get back from the gym, “It’s sooo late” (with a wicked whiny voice). Is this chick for real?!

Well I’m not having any of that. I’m not going to let her hinder my desire to get back to the gym. Starting next week I’m just going to get ready for the gym as soon as I get home from work. If she doesn’t want to cook dinner then it looks like she’ll be eating when she gets home late-night. I will pop in a Smart One and call it a night. It stinks eating that late but what am I supposed to do? This is my life now.

Or, when I get home from work I will cook dinner and then we will go to the gym super late. I think that is the best option because it is the healthiest for me. If she has issues with this then I guess we will just have to go to the gym seperately. She can really be so selfish sometimes. Why do I have to be the one who’s always cooking? I should start keeping track of that because now I feel like I’m getting scammed - buying and cooking dinner supplies is expensive! It should definitely be even-keeled. We never cook dinner on Fridays so that leaves 4 nights in the work week for us to cook - 2 for me and 2 for her. I am definitely going to be keeping that in mind from now on.

But enough about my bratty roommate, my weight finally starts with a “1”. It may be followed by some pretty high numbers but, nonetheless, it’s a 1 and it’s a start. I’ve also gone down a pant size to a 14 - I literally cannot even remember the last time I was in this weight range. Definitely not since early high school. An accomplishment for sure. I really feel like something in my brain has clicked this time around. I’ve tried so many times in the past to make this change for myself and it’s finally happenning. I’m finally doing it. I couldn’t be more happy.

And I definitely have this blog and all you bloggers to thank. Your stories, ideas, motivation, pictures, recipes, tricks, and habits have all contributed to these postitive changes in my life. I thought that I would be able to continue on without frequenting this page that often, but come to find out, I miss reading all the tricks, tips and stories. I miss the comrodority of us all trying to reach a common goal of becoming healthy and getting fit. So I will definitely be making more time to head to Tumblr.

Here we go. March 1st. 205. By April 1st I will be 195. I’m getting rid of this excess weight once and for all.
